CHOOSE US because at Chapman Mills Dental we are highly trained to provide a high quality of service. Not only do we understand the oral tethered tissue, but we understand breastfeeding. Our appointments are three fold: Most of our patients are referred to us by a lactation consultant, dentist or physician. Our referral form is available on this site. It is also imperative that all patients having treatment seek the aid of a certified lactation consultant for ongoing supportive care two days post-revision at the earliest.
Learn MoreA frenum/frenulum is a fold of tissue in the mouth. Frenua are found between the upper two front teeth, under the tongue, and on the sides of the gums. A frenectomy is a procedure to remove or release one of these folds of tissue.
A frenectomy is simply the removal of a frenum in the mouth. A frenum is a muscular attachment between two tissues. There are two major frena (the plural form of frenum) in the mouth that can sometimes obstruct normal function and are candidates for frenectomies.
The area of the frenum may be numbed with a local anaesthetic, depending on the age of the patient. The soft tissue is then released using a soft tissue laser. Stitches are not usually required.
Chapman Mills Dental offers single-visit laser teeth whitening; laser gum surgery; laser cavity detection; laughing gas for anxious patients; intra-oral cameras so you can see what we see and ceiling-mounted satellite TV’s to watch your favourite show.
